About Us

An accreditation for employers

We work with employers across the South West and Midlands helping them to identify and support the carers in their workforce. Our membership accreditation demonstrates a positive and proactive approach to identifying and supporting employees who are caring for someone outside of work.

Research shows us that most employers are unaware of how many of their staff members are carers and many working carers don’t realise there is any support available to them. Close to 70% of carers have quit work or reduced their hours due to the stress of juggling work with care, proving that this is a costly issue for employers.

We help employers to retain staff members – many of whom will be at the peak of their career, aged 45-64 – and to avoid the costly process of replacing experienced team members.

Good for your business, good for your community

Working For Carers is a not-for-profit initiative, run by a partnership of carer support charities. Through membership of the scheme, our members are directly funding the work of our local charity partners, enabling us to work with employers and improve support and prospects for the carers in our communities.

Advice and support for working carers

Our advice section for working carers is free to access and provides tips and advice on managing your caring role alongside paid employment, as well as help to return to work.

Many people – carers and employers included – are unaware that there is free support available to help unpaid carers. Check out our support service directory for details of support services in your area.
